Watch where you walk.

From the SunNews:

Twelve people were injured Sunday night as a car traveling on Ocean Boulevard drove onto a sidewalk and into another vehicle.

The two occupants of the car that struck the victims immediately fled on foot. Three bystanders tackled one man in front of the Aquarius motel, according to witnesses , and police caught the other man within the hour.

None of the injuries were life threatening, and one man refused medical treatment, police said. At least one child was hurt.

The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Kentrel Carter, has been charged with driving without a valid license, resisting arrest, violation of the noise ordinance, a seat belt violation and destruction of personal property, said Capt. David Knipes with Myrtle Beach police.

Another Hemingway man, the passenger in the car, is also being held at the city jail, but he has not yet been charged.

Hundreds of people surrounded the police barricades for the hour that it took police to remove all the victims from the scene. Two blocks of Ocean Boulevard were cordoned off with police tape surrounding the crash at Mr. Joe White Avenue.

The windshield was shattered and the passenger side dented on the turquoise Honda Accord with S.C. tags, which hit the 10 pedestrians and a black GMC SUV with two occupants, said Myrtle Beach Detective Susan Baker.

Horry County dispatch received the call at 10:26 p.m., according to the shift supervisor.

"The blue car jumped a corner and hit a car that was making a normal turn," said Chris Walker, an Ocean Boulevard business owner who heard the crash and called 911.

"They took off on foot, and bystanders tackled one guy in front of the Aquarius."

Walker said a police vehicle was nearby when the Accord hit the pedestrians.

Eleven of the victims were taken by ambulance to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Baker said.
